Time Management and Note-Taking

For Wednesday next week (Sept. 4), please read Chapters III and IV of Dragons. Of the planning, time management, and note-taking advice here, what do you think will be most important for you personally? In which of these areas are you already fairly strong? Where do you need work?

  1. Time management skills are very important in a successful person, not just in college but also in life. Being a "student-athlete," demands certain sacrifices in order to be successful in both. Spread time out wisely. Sleep is your friend. Taking proper notes and also taking advantage of study tables are necessary for success in my mind. For me, taking proper precautions for class, and managing time are needed in order to pass and are most important. Doing this allows me to spread my focus other places. I do need work on my own personal level, so that when my group of friends up still up at 1:00 am, that I need to be in bed so I can have energy to work out, and then go to class, then practice again.

  2. Being able to manage my time is probably my strongest suit. Taking notes though seems to be my weakest point, though the tips on how to take them is very helpful.

  3. I know how to take notes. I had a teacher in 7th grade that taught kind of like a college course. He wrote an outline on the board then he lecture the 90 minutes of class. So that's where I learned to take notes. Time management on the other hand I have had always had trouble with. their are so many good games to play and most take a long time to get though. Also another thing that doesn't help is my ADD which makes it hard to concentrate on must stuff in the first place.

  4. I like the table idea. It makes you realize how much time you really have. I was able to see when my best possible study times were. I thought I was a decent note taker but there were some tips here that I think will help make taking notes easier and I believe I will get more out of studying.

  5. I like the time management part. It makes me think about the present and future. I like how you have examples of people that actually did these things in college. I like note taking example and tips. I know how to take notes, but I like being reassured that I am doing something right.

  6. The table is a great idea for me. It shows what I can accomplish in a day. Time is an important factor in managing. If I use the table to my advantage I won't be as distracted when it comes time for homework/studying
